Day 28 - Huntly

Woke up a little sore this morning, shouldn’t be a surprise I suppose. I was still keen to get going, I figured I would do a shorter day to Huntly, about 35km away. I packed up and made my way down trail next to the Waikato river.

Good water can confirm.

11am photo, I caught up to Chris, Lindy, and Elco and we went to the Rangiriri Pie shop, banging meat pies

Cows blocking the path

Found this one horned fella on the side of the road.

The size of this flower, a Magnolia tree I believe.

We made it to the town where of Huntly, where we would be staying the night. Huntly has been voted NZ’s worst town for some years running. It’s a bit run down and it is a  coal mining town, but the holiday park we’re staying at was surprisingly nice. Some 33km today, but my sore legs felt like it was a bigger day. Here I bunked with a retired man by the name of James who lives in Canmore. Finally another Canadian walker, my first. Turns out he’s quite the mountain man and we spent hours sharing stories of our adventure in the Canadian Rockies.
