Day 35 - Km 910
A chaotic start today. There is a canoe section ahead that needed booking. Although we booked a good week ahead of what’s normal, the Christmas season has made things complicated. Florian came down with some sort of sickness in the night a Bruce will drive him ahead a section, allowing me and Joren catch up while he recovers. The others in our group are scattered around in places that are not in service.
Eventually we got going to the trail ahead, I allowed myself a 3km ride from Colleen to gain some time. But I’ll get back to this ‘allowance’ later. Only at the trail ahead did I remember all the goodies I left in their fridge, and Colleen drove back to pick them up for me. What would I do without my chocolate milk… thanks Colleen.
Todays track turned out to be favourite one yet. A secluded valley and a small used trail winding its way beside an idyllic river. Albeit there was still some mud a slippery sections.

We figured we would camp around as far as we could today given our late start. There wasn’t many camping options. The weather forecasted some 17mm of rain in the late afternoon. As the clouds darkened and the sprinkles of rain began we quickly went into a nearby forest plantation and set up our tents amid the trees. In the nick of time as well, shortly after the 17mm came down in force with a brief but intense thunderstorm.
