Day 61 - Paiwae Hut

A sleep in today, I meant to sleep in longer but I got anxiety of everyone leaving before me so I packed up and left earlier. I’m only planning on going 10km today, a nice half day treat after some bigger days. The trail ahead is going to be a bit slower today however. Some slips and rougher trails.

11am photo navigating a section with lots of downed trees.

Which way should I go? I’m getting a slight hint to go right.

The track hit a section of a very old abandon logging track. The tracks were still visible, poking above the litter occasionally.

Here is the big slip that everyone was talking about. It was truly massive. A quick scramble and bushwack to get over.

A lunch and a cheeky swim at this spot.

At the Parawai Hut I took an easy afternoon. Talking to some fun lads on the TA Including Jenga, named so because he falls over so much. We had more swims in the nearby river, and I got a chance to do laundry in the river. Also did some reading and some sunburning in the hot sun.
