Day 81 - Boyles Flat Hut
Another frustrating night trying to blow up my air mattress before it deflates and I can’t fall asleep. The morning brought some sunshine and blue skies which was a better start. The terrain today is quite a change of space from yesterday. I’ll be walking on a flat valley bottom, no passes today. This means I can put some good kilometres on.
The morning brought several stream crossings. Getting cold wet feet this early was not ideal.
It was a nice change of pace to be walking without worrying about every foot placement. Just pure walking.
11am photo taking a shade break among one the few trees on this section. Turned out to be ripper hot day
This valley was a stark contrast to the one on the other side of Waiau Pass. Instead of lush wet forests this one was dry and hot, reminding me of the Okanagan.
The day was easy walking, I got to Boyles Flat Hut around 5:30 after an enjoyable 45km day. A nice hut too.
The end of day ritual, everyone getting satellite signal to send their messages.
