Day 92 - Geraldine

I’m taking a zero in town today to wait out the bad weather. By the looks of it the bad weather is not even coming in. A zero is nice though and gives me a chance to cook some good food. I spent the day eating and relaxing. There are lots of hikers here, as usual. There are at least 30 people, many of which are leaving tomorrow to continue sobo. I have booked a shuttle to the trail head. Hitching to the other side of the Rangitata is nearly impossible. It’s either hitch what you can and walk the rest or hire a shuttle. I got on the 7:15am shuttle which gives me a good day of hiking.

About a week ago I forgot my spork at a hut and No.3 hut. I’ve been using a disposable plastic fork I found ever since. I figured it was long gone and someone else would make use of it. But a kiwi walker approached me in the kitchen asking if I was Jason, and handed me my lost spork. Turns out she found it and carried it all this way. A very nice surprise. I can finally throw away this nasty plastic fork I’ve been using.

I literally did not take one photo today, so here’s a picture of NZ art.
