Day 29 - Hamilton

Waking up early for another big day, hiking by 7am. We’re going for Hamilton, but today we are finally get a proper track section over the Hakarimata mountain range. Looks like another plus 40km day. Surprise surprise it’s raining today again.

Starting up the track, looking back out to Huntly and the Waikato River.

Walking in the clouds, Elco in front of me.

11am photo riding the ridgeline of the range, most the track looked like the picture below however.

Once the track had ended there was still a 20km walk to Hamilton in the river valley. Chris, who was far behind, ended up taking the city bus from Ngāruawāhia to Hamilton skipping this section. It turned out to be a pleasant enough walk, a quiet bike path along the river taking into the downtown. Here I broke off from the trail to go to the Holiday park and meet up with Joren and Florian again, where rotisserie chicken and beer were waiting. A 44km day.
