Day 109 - Greenstone Hut
I woke up to a wet morning full of clouds. Luckily the clouds broke for a few minutes revealing my tent spot and the beautiful lake I was on.
As the low clouds rolled back in I started my journey back to the Routeburn through the valley of the trolls.
The track continued in the alpine traversing the mountain. Good views all the way. I reached the people from the next hut coming my way. A group of 40 people from the lodge (each hut also has a lodge). Between the hut and lodge there can be easily 80 people moving inbetween huts each day. Insanity.
Lake Mackenzie
Earland Falls.
It’s going to be a bigger day. Pushing to Greenstone hut, 42km or around that. The last 20km were at the valley bottom in forests or open valleys with the cows. I reached the hut around 7pm and caught up with some hikers I haven’t seen in a while there. Dinner and bed.
