Day 3 - Hukatere

A rainy night, full of loud thunderstorms, or so I was told because I slept through it all. I packed up my tent in between the bursts of rain. The Aussie pair had some sort of portable espresso coffee machine, what a luxury. The NOBO hiker whom gave me aloe the day before needed some TP, which I gave happily to settle my debt. Wished him well on his last day of the TA and set off myself south bound.

The rainy weather past over and the day progressively turn into an absolute stunner. Good warm weather and clear skies.

This is how I hiked to protect my burnt face.

Here’s my 11am picture, the never changing view, but an undeniably beautiful one to be stuck with.

I caught up the 3 Belgians and had lunch and a nap on the beach. Taking a good break from the gruelling sand track was needed.

Reaching camp after 30km I was happy to see showers and a cook house with electricity. The camp owner, a estactic lady, sang to her dog who would in return howl a tune back for us as we arrived. A weird but welcome first impression.

Michelle, a retired American woman who we were hiking with, bought us all beers which was greatly appreciated.

           Camp for the night.

To finish off an already banging day we were treated to a stunning sunset.
